Obituary EAST PEORIAa"Jewel Avenel (Gingrich) Huffman, 88, of East Peoria died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, August 2, 2010 at Heartland Nursing Home in Peoria. Born on September 2, 1921 in Ozark, IL to Harley and Martha Ann Miller Gingrich, she married Wayne E. Huffman in 1944 in Toulon, IL. He preceded her in death in 1987. Surviving are one daughter, Gloria J. (Lonnie J.) Seckler of East Peoria; one son, Robert Huffman of Wyoming, IL; one sister, Lovena Milburn of Toulon, IL; 4 grandchildren, Brian, Eric, Paul and Mary, and 6 great grandchildren, Katie, Daniel, Nathan, Alyssa, Kaylie and Maci; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Delbert, and three sisters, Mildred A. Gruver, Lillian Trompeter, and Imogene Ervin. Avenel loved gardening, canning, cooking and baking. She provided daycare for many years in her home and recently helped her daughter with daycare in her home. She was a member of El Vista Baptist Church in Peoria. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, August 6, 2010 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria. The Rev. Dr. Daryl Gruver will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Thursday, August 5 at the funeral home in East Peoria. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM on Friday at Mound Grove Gardens of Memory in Kankakee, IL.
