Obituary Creve Coeur - Iola Margaret Lackey, 87 of Creve Coeur, formerly of Louisville, KY, died at 4:51 PM on Wednesday December 26, 2012 at OSF St Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born on June 25, 1925 in Louisville to Michael William and Martha Pearl Noe Trompeter. She married Douglas Langston Lackey on June 5, 1941 in Louisville. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1966 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by one son Douglas Michael Lackey, two sisters; Faydeanna Masden, Jean Laverne Willett and her parents. Iola is survived by her daughter Judy J. Lackey of Creve Coeur and her special friends Randy and Debbie Woost Rutledge of Morton and her adopted parents, Norman and Phyllis Woost of Manito. She is also survived by nieces and nephews in Lousiville. She worked 17 years as a housekeeper in Environmental Services at St. Joseph Hospital and Humana Audubon Hospital in Louisville. Iola was a very devoted Catholic woman who believed very strongly in the power of prayer and loved her faith. She was a member of Sacre Coeur Parish in Creve Coeur and Our Mother of Sorrows Parish in Louisville. She loved music (especially jazz and soul), enjoyed singing and playing the piano. Iola and her husband loved Big Band dancing and often went to dances at American Legion Post 1234 in Creve Coeur where they were members. She was also very proud of her Native American heritage and enjoyed telling everyone that her name meant "Pretty Flower." There will be a Funeral Mass for Iola on Monday December 31, 2012 at 10 AM at Sacre Coeur Church in Creve Coeur. Father Paolo Tanzini will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-6 PM on Sunday at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria and one half hour prior to the service at the church. There will be a prayer service at 4 PM Sunday.
