Obituary EAST PEORIA-Hughie B. Cassidy, 89, of East Peoria, IL died at 4:00 AM Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria. Born on July 11, 1922 in Nokomis, IL to Henry F. and Lela M. Oberle Cassidy, he married Marjorie M. Hand on February 23, 1946 in Nokomis. She preceded him in death on May 23, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Marie and his son, Hughie "Butch" Cassidy Jr. Surviving are 4 children, Linda (Rick) Giebelhausen, Terry (Sharon) Cassidy, and Larry (Cindy) Cassidy, all of East Peoria and Bob (Jean) Cassidy of Washington; 1 brother, Hank Cassidy of West Frankfort, IL; 2 sisters, Suzie Jones of Hanna City and Loretta Haacke of Montana; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was a US Army veteran serving during World War II. Hughie owned and operated Cassidy's Garage in East Peoria for over 45 years. He was a season ticket holder with the Peoria Riverman for several years. He also enjoyed boating and was a member of the East Peoria Boat Club. Hughie loved spending time with his family and grandkids. Cremation has been accorded and graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, February 20, 2012 at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria. Pastor Mark Schoenhals will officiate. Military rites will be performed by the US Army and the Tazewell Military Rites Team.
