Obituary Washington- Hugh S. Rogers, 91, of Washington passed away at 3:00am, Friday, December 6, 2013 at Washington Christian Village. Hugh was born January 23, 1922 in Curran, IL to Roy and Katie Hancock Rogers. He married Ruth Dorn on December 25, 1944 in Rosamond, IL. She preceded him in death on July 8, 1970. He later married Alberta Harris on May 8, 1971 in Washington, IL. She survives. Also surviving is one son, Tony (Jeanne) Rogers of Morton and one daughter, Jerry (Joe) Lutker of Edelstein; step-children, Carol Jean (Dave) Reh of Indianapolis, Judy Folmar, and Jerry (Cindy) Harris, both of Washington; one brother, Roy (Marie) Rogers Jr. of Stowe, OH; one sister, Dorothy Dixon of Pana; 3 grandchildren, Jody Lutker, Kimberly (John) McCormick, and Brian (Michelle) Rogers; 8 step-grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a half brother, 3 sisters, and an infant brother. Hugh served in the United States Coast Guard and served his country during World War II. He worked for Caterpillar in research assembly for 33 years, retiring in April 1981. He was a member of the Veterans' of Foreign Wars Post 2078 and a Charter Member of the American Legion Post 1234 in Creve Coeur. Funeral services for Hugh will be held at 3:00pm, Monday, December 9, 2013 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Pastor John Rea will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Military rites will be given by both active duty military as well as Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
