Obituary EAST PEORIA-Howard A. Lykins, 86, of East Peoria, IL, died at 1:10 pm Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Heartland of Riverview in East Peoria, IL. Born on May 8, 1924 in San Jose, IL to Arthur and Bernice Egglestone Lykins, he married Runell M. Miller on August 28, 1946 in Atlanta, GA. She survives. Also surviving are 1 daughter, Deborah (Roy) Kamp of Metamora, IL; 1 son, David Cecil Lykins of Dallas, GA; 2 grandchildren, Nathaniel (Caryn) Kamp of Peoria, IL and Christopher Kamp of Metamora, IL, and 1 great-grandchild, Cohlson Kamp. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Robert. Howard was a US Army Air Corps veteran, serving in World War II and later served with the Air National Guard. He graduated from Bradley University with a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering and then worked as a Service Engineer for Caterpillar Tractor Co., retiring in 1986. Howard was a member of the First United Methodist Church in East Peoria and the Society of Automotive Engineers. He traveled all over the world but mostly loved to travel to his own backyard where he enjoyed gardening! Howard also enjoyed spending time in his woodworking shop with his family. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Monday, March 7, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in East Peoria. Pastor Mary Arnold will officiate. There will be no visitation. Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton.
