Obituary Howard Marshall "Sonny" Holmes III, 52, of Morton, formerly of Washington, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at 2:25 A.M. at his residence. Sonny was born on July 31, 1963 in Peoria, IL to Howard Marshall Jr. and Betty Stinson Holmes. They survive of Washington. He married Rita Parish on July 1, 2006 in Washington. She survives. He is also survived by his son, Howard "Fuzzy" Holmes IV of Washington; step-children, Julene (Tim) Schrock, Renae Bergman, and Nikki Maxheimer , all of Washington; sisters, Dixie (Ron) Thomas of Grinnell, IA and Shelley (Denny) Hartman of Sunnyland; step-grandchildren, Taylor Lulay, Dane Schrock, Cash Schrock, and Haylee Walker; many nieces and nephews; and his special pets, Harlee and Jax. At the age of 16, Sonny started his career at John Bearce Ford in Washington, where he worked for several years. He then worked at Anderson Auto Care Inc in Washington as a mechanic. Sonny last worked for several years as a gas regulator with Ameren. He was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, boating, fishing, riding his Harley, playing softball, camping in their motor home and spending Christmases in Florida. He was also a crazy die-hard Cardinal fan. Sonny was a loving friend to everyone he met, he will be truly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family. A memorial service for Sonny will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 1:00P.M at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Pastor Wilmer Houck will officiate. There will be a visitation prior to the service, from 10:00A.M.-1:00P.M. at the funeral home.
