Obituary PEKIN - Herman Leon Blackledge, age 84, of Pekin, passed away at 11:55 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Timbercreek Rehab and Health Care in Pekin. He was born September 23, 1930 in St. Louis, MO to Homer Fowler and Grace Minesgarn. He married Phyliss Ann Edwards in Corinth, MS on October 19, 1957. She preceded him in death on April 27, 2012. He was also preceded in death by his parents. Herman had several brothers and sisters, Charles Fowler and J.C. Fowler, Curtis Fowler, all of Neelyville, MO, Golda Drane of Trafalgar, IN, Lois Wollard of Poplar Bluff, MO, Doug Fowler of Corning, AR; and several nieces and nephews. Herman was a United States Army Veteran. He worked at Peoria Brick and Tile for 12 years and at Keystone Steel and Wire in Bartonville for 23 years before retiring. Herman was an inventor, owning several patents. He enjoyed fishing with his wife Phyliss, belonging to Leisure Oaks Sportsman's Club in Bartonville and listening to Elvis. A graveside service with Military Honors will be at 11 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2014 at Fondulac Township Cemetery in East Peoria, with Pastor Howard Love officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria is entrusted with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Timbercreek Rehab and Health Care in Pekin.
