Obituary
Helen Loraine McCormick, of East Peoria passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 2:38 A.M. at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria.
She was also known as "Neen", "Gran", "Granny 'Cormick", "Auntie Hetty",'Queenie' and "Hot Rocks".
Helen was born on June 12, 1932 in Peoria to Albert E. and Loraine E. Roberson Rebholz Sr., she married Lyle S. Peterson on Nov. 25, 1948. She later married Billy Jo McCormick on July 19, 1971. He preceded her in death on February 17, 1993.
Surviving are her children, one son Steven L. (Jo) Peterson of Washington, one daughter, Rhonda K. (Ronnie) Lovett of East Peoria, two step-children, Donny J. McCormick of Scotts Hill, TN, Vickie (Kenny) Grammer of East Peoria; one sister, Lynda (Robert) Renken of East Peoria; sister-in-law Kate Wortham of Parsons, TN; 6 grandchildren, Tonda (John) Benefield-Roth, Brett (Vanessa) Benefield, Lacey (Justin) Lovett-Ramsay, Kevin (Carrie) Peterson II, Kent (Kristy) Peterson, and Jodi Bridgmon; 8 step-grandchildren, Ronny (Ryan) Lehmkuhl, Randi Lovett, Jamie Lovett, Dustin Grammer, Darin Grammer, Derek Grammer, Anna McCormick, and Ashley McCormick; 29 Great-Grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; special Aunt Dee "Tood" Davis of Columbus, MT; dear friend, singer Brenda Lee; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and her beloved dog, Duke
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Jo; one son, Kevin M. Peterson; one brother, Albert E. Rebholz Jr.; infant twin sister, Alberta; infant stillborn brother, Michael; and her dog, Mr. Clinton.
Helen worked at the Peoria State Hosptial in housekeeping for 17 years. She then worked at Home Movie Store in East Peoria for several years. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, camping & fishing. Above all else, she loved being a mother and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in East Peoria.
A funeral service for Helen will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. Pastor Mary Arnold will officiate. There will be a visitation on Monday, April 25, 2016 from 5:00P.M.-7:00P.M. at the funeral home and a half hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment will be at Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
Memorials may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
