Obituary WASHINGTON- Helen "Marie" Blackburn, 94, of Washington passed away on Friday, November 28 at 7:30PM at The Villas of Holly Brook in Washington. Marie was born May 20, 1920 in Peoria to Harry and Stella Truitt Knickerbocker. She married Thomas Dafnes, George Bradway, and James Blackburn. They all preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers, one sister, granddaughter, Terri Dries and her son-in-law, Donald Buchanan. Marie is survived by her two daughters, Mary Buchanan of Brimfield and Jean (Mel) Hildebran of Washington; one sister, Mary McCarty of Washington, grandchildren, Jack (Joy) Dries of East Peoria, Beth (John) Meister of Farmington, Tammy (Mike) Smith of Oak Hill, Tom Ansteatt of Peoria, Melody (Tim) Narr of Hartford, WI, Dianna (Scott) Fowler of Washington, and Dawn (Joe) Dalfonso of Washington; 18 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Marie retired as a bookkeeper for Argo Land and Cattle Company in Arizona. An avid bowler, Marie also had a passion for volunteering and spent more than 35,000 hours assisting various organizations. Many of these hours were spent at St. Mary's Hospital in Arizona, working in the craft department. She also assisted numerous fundraisers and blood drives, donating both her time and money. Marie lived in Arizona for 50 years and was an active member of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Tuscon. For the past five years, she lived in Washington to be close to her family. Memorial contributions may be made to Transitions Hospice or the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1300 N. Greasewood Road, Tucson, AZ. A memorial Mass for Marie will be held Thursday, December 4 at 1:00PM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington. There will be a visitation an hour prior to the service at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
