Harry Leon Burwell, 85, of Eureka, passed away at his home on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

He was born in Mattoon, Illinois on May 12, 1940 to Harry G. and Caroline C. (Fitzpatrick) Burwell.

He is survived by two sons, Tonny (Lisa) Burwell of Muscatine, Iowa, Allan Burwell of Montgomery, Texas; daughter, Christine Daniel of Lexington, Kentucky; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold Burwell of Mattoon, Illinois; many nieces and nephews; his extended family in Mattoon; very close long time friend, Ronda; and neighbor, Donna.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Terrie Meeks; one son, Troy Burwell; two grandchildren, Seth and Cheyenne Burwell; one brother, Gerald Burwell; and one sister, Patsy Parker.

Harry served in the United States Navy for three years and the United States Army for three years. He then began working at Caterpillar retiring in January of 2001 from the Tech Center after 36 years of service.

Per his wishes cremation has been accorded. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
