WASHINGTON - Harriet V. Venzon, 90, of Washington, IL died at 11:15 am Saturday, January 16, 2021 in Washington. Born on August 28, 1930 in Peoria, Il to Lyle V. and Mary J. Wake Howat, she married Louis A. Venzon on November 1, 1952 in Peoria, IL. He preceded her in death on January 19, 2014 in Washington, IL. Surviving are 6 children; Mary (Robert) Kinney, daughter-in-law, Donna Venzon, Patricia Dion, Dianne Venzon (Terry Larsen), Jean (Timothy) Lappin, Timothy (Teresa) Venzon, and Thomas (Mindy) Venzon, 1 sister, Shirley Hardesty, 1 brother, James Howat, Grandchildren; Patrick (Jill) Kinney, Michael (Jena) Kinney, Meghan (Robert) Cowser, John Venzon, Mark Venzon, Adam (Christi) Dion, Erin (David) Burgos, Aimee Dion, Tony Stevens, Matt Stevens, Allison Lappin, Quinn Lappin, Nicholas (Gillian) Venzon, Kaitlyn Venzon, Zachary Venzon (Megan Cullen), and Elizabeth Venzon (Cris Steffan), Great-Grandchildren; Tony Jr., Aidan, Maeve, Darrian, Zidian, Hannah, Ryan, Caleb, Liza, Azalea, Ava and Zander, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 1 son, Michael Venzon on May 11, 2020 and 2 sisters, Mary Lou Rozell and Marjorie Howat. Harriet was a graduate of Methodist School of Nursing in 1951, working for Methodist Medical Center and the American Red Cross. After marrying Louie, she worked at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, AK while Louie finished his time in the Army. While raising her family, Harriet was a member of St. Patrick Church in Washington for 58 years, where she sang in the choir, served on the Parish Council and Shut-in visiting committee, was Home and School Chairman, and volunteered as a teacher's aide, a room mother and a 4-H Leader. In later years, she volunteered for Community Care, Methodist Medical Center, Red Cross Blood mobile, and Meals on Wheels. She also participated in the Wednesday Morning Bible Study Group at her church and was a member of the Catholic Women's Apostolate of the OSF Sisters of Mt. Alverno. Avid travelers, She and Louie enjoyed time overseas and visiting all 50 states. She also enjoyed singing, sewing, and gardening. A funeral mass and visitation will be private. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements. Harriet's family wishes to thank Washington Supportive Living for all the wonderful care they provided. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick Church or School.
