Obituary

Harrel N. Frazier, 93, of Washington, passed away at 9:22pm Saturday, January 7, 2023 at home on hospice.

Harrel was born April 17, 1929 in Morrison, TN to the late Colonel W. and Willie Ophia Edwards Frazier. He married Virginia F. Bryan on August 21, 1954 in Peoria; she preceded him in death on February 11, 2022.

Surviving is his daughter, Cheri Feeney of Washington; granddaughters, Nicki Frazier of Washington and Tricia (Nathan) Anterhaus of Godfrey; great-grandsons, Brandon Prather, Lane A. Nolan Frazier, and Kayden Anterhaus; and a sister in law, Gale (Fred) Craven.

He was also preceded in death by his six siblings.

Harrel, sometimes known as Harold, grew up farming in Tennessee until coming to work at Caterpillar in 1950. He was then drafted into the Army, serving during the Korean war and was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries sustained during combat. Following his discharge, he went back to work for Caterpillar in 1953, retiring in 1989 after 39 years there. He and his wife Virginia "Ginny", made a good team on any project they endeavored like remodeling or gardening.  He was very proud of his two gardens and enjoyed taking care of the birds and bunnies. He loved creating wood projects and was a talented mechanic. He was a wonderful story teller and a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30pm Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be the hour prior at the funeral home. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
