Obituary PEORIAa"Harold W. Pfeifer, 72, of Peoria died at 1:05 AM on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at his residence. Born on June 20, 1937 in Groveland Township, IL, to George W. and Emelia Modendricker Pfeifer, he married Vivian Kay Rocke on February 6, 1965 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Peoria. She survives. Also surviving are 3 daughters, Susan K. Pfeifer of Norwalk, CT, Christine (Matthew) Wright of Missoula, MT, and Ellen (Troy) Noble of Bartonville, IL; twin granddaughters, Madeline and Abigail Wright; 1 brother, Clarence (Mary Ann) Pfeifer of Morton, IL, and 3 sisters, Helen (Milton) Zehr of Morton, IL, Catherine Holsworth of Katy, TX, and Lois (Darwin) Hunkler of Russiaville, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and 1 sister. Harold was a graduate of Morton High School, class of 1955, and was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He worked as a crane operator for 38 years at Keystone Steel & Wire in Bartonville before his retirement in 1996. Harold was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Peoria, and enjoyed outdoor activities. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, December 12 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria. The Rev. Daniel Tuhy will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Friday, December 11, also at the funeral home in East Peoria. Burial will be at the Zion Evangelical Methodist Church Cemetery in East Peoria where military rites will be accorded.
