Obituary PEORIA - Harold Lee Heun, 67, of 4834 N. Weaver Ridge Blvd., Peoria, died at 12:30 pm Saturday, August 5, 2006 at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria, IL. Harold was born on August 5, 1939 in Canton, SD, to Hurbert J. and Viola Knutson Heun. He married Susan Rice on November 30, 1985 in Peoria, IL. She survives. Also surviving are two children, Susan (Brian) Mueller of Huntley, IL and Patrick (Jennifer) Heun of Yorkville, IL, 1 Stepson Eddie (Kathy) Butcher of Pontiac,Il.;1 sister, Roxie (Richard) Waggoner of Sioux Falls, SD 1 step brother, Gary Heun of Alameda, CA and 1 step sister, Vickie Heun of Mesa, AZ, and 6 grandchildren (Tyler, Jacqui, Nicki, Jerry, Tom, and Hanna). He was preceded in death by 1 son, Jerry Heun and 1 step sister, Donna Senna and also his parents. He was a US Army Veteran, serving with the 101st Airborne for 9 years. Stationed in Berlin, he manned the first radio at Checkpoint Charlie along the Berlin Wall. He retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 1996 after working as a repairman in Aurora, IL for 30 years. Harold was an avid golfer, working as a ranger at Weaver Ridge golf club. He was a member of Tarumi Golf Club in Japan. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, swimming, scuba diving, water skiing, and being outdoors. His spirit of adventure and sense of humor will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington with Military Rites by T.A.C.T. Rev. Ron Miller will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Monday, August 7, 2006 at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
