Obituary East Peoria- Harold N. "Boone" Dorries, 84, of East Peoria, died at 3:30 am Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Heartland at Riverview. He was born April 19, 1925 in Beckemeyer, IL to Edward and Ruth (Skibinski) Dorries. He married Helen Koch in June 1966 in East Peoria. She preceded him in death in 2002. He was also preceded in death by one step-son, James. Surviving are; one step-son, Gary (Bonnie) Koch of East Peoria; three step-grandchildren, Becky Welk and David Koch, both of East Peoria and Dan (Sue) Koch of Crystal Lake, IL; and six step-great grandchildren. He was a graduate of Breese High School in Breese, IL. Harold was a WWII US Army veteran serving in Europe. He worked as a machinist in the transmission plant at Caterpillar in East Peoria retiring in 1981 after 30 years. For many seasons, Harold played on the Caterpillar baseball league. In his retirement years, he often played pool at the Fondulac Administration building in East Peoria. He enjoyed fishing on the IL River with his step-son and was an avid bowler. He enjoyed watching Chicago Bears football and was a Die Hard Cubs Fan. Graveside burial of his cremated remains will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Fondulac Township Cemetery in East Peoria. Pastor Joe Weyer will officiate. Military Funeral Honors will be conducted by the US Army. Memorials are requested to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of East Peoria.
