Obituary Gusti Smith, 94, of Metamora, formerly of East Peoria, died at 7:50pm Friday, March 2, 2018 at Snyder Village Nursing Home in Metamora. She was born July 26, 1923 in Hopkins County, KY to Ronald Baker and Ausie Eva (Veal) Stallins. She married Nelson L. Smith on March 14, 1946 in Denmark, IL. He preceded her in death on July 16, 2002. Surviving are two sons, Roger K. (Patricia) Smith of Percy and Gary D. (Cindy) Smith of Metamora, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Pearly King, and twin brothers, Ray and Robert Stallins. Gusti worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co. for several years and later worked at the Kroger office in East Peoria. She was a faithful Christian and was a member at First Baptist Church in Peoria and First Baptist Church in East Peoria. She enjoyed serving her churches, whether it was through the Diaconate Board or cleaning the pews. She liked to crochet and was a loving mother and grandmother. A funeral service for Gusti will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be from 5-7:00pm Monday, March 5, 2018 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
