Greg L. Williamson, 70, of Germantown Hills, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born October 9, 1954 in Peoria to William and Donna (Liescheidt) Williamson.  He grew up in East Peoria and graduated from EPCHS in 1972 and went on to earn a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1984. He married Kathy L. Heimeshoff in Peoria on July 21, 1984.  She survives.

Also surviving are his mother, Donna Williamson; daughter, Jennifer L. Williamson; brother, Steve (Twila) Williamson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, William.

Greg worked at Caterpillar Inc. from 1977 to 2012 when he retired as an Electrical Engineer after 35 years of service. After retiring, he still kept in touch with his past coworkers and would meet up with them regularly.

He was an easy-going and giving person, and always willing to help anyone with whatever they needed. He chose to become an organ donor to give others a gift of better health and life. He was loved by many and a stranger to few. He always enjoyed meeting new people and talking to others, be it at the store, garage sales, and many other places. His hobbies included woodworking, electronics and writing software, and DIY projects around the house. He enjoyed listening to old music, from a variety of genres including big band and Christian.

He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria.  He was also involved in Kairos of Illinois and Community Bible Study, both of which he enjoyed very much.

Cremation has been accorded.  A Celebration of Life will be held on January 11th at Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria. Visitation will be from 10am-11am and a short service will be held from 11am-12pm. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kairos Prison Ministry International, or to any local charitable organization.
