Gregory William Essig, 63, of Washington, IL, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021 after battling cancer. Greg was born October 7, 1957 in Peoria, IL the son of Glenn and Patricia (Thomas) Essig. He graduated from Washington High School and attended ICC. He was married to Sue Taylor for three years. He worked for Miller Welding Co. in Washington and Luckey Trucking Co. in Streator. He thoroughly enjoyed being on the road in his semi. Greg also liked to hunt, fish, and run a collection of remote controls. Those left to cherish his memory: mother, Pat Essig; siblings, Jim (Deb) Essig, Deb (Tim Fleming) Rich; and several nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Essig. A private memorial service will be held at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Vitas Healthcare, TAPS No-Kill Animal Shelter in Pekin, or St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington, IL.
