Obituary Grace I. Dean, 92, of Deer Creek, passed away at 11:58 pm Monday, March 27, 2017 at Snyder Village in Metamora. She was born June 11, 1924 in Portage County, WI to John and Lillian Gunderson Hickey. She married Wilbur L. Dean on July 8, 1947 in Custer, WI. He preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and one sister. Surviving are two children, John (Holly) Dean of Massillon, OH, Barbara (Dennis) Dahlbach of Toluca; five grandchildren, Brent (Lauren) Dean, Clint (Judy) Dean, David (Andrea) Dahlbach, Bonita (Michael) Hutchison, Brittany (John) Taylor; 10 great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Ethel Liebe of Clearwater, MI, Edith Steffanus of New London, WI, Harold (Mary) Hickey and James (Joan) Hickey both of Joliet. Grace worked as a first grade teacher with Deer Creek/Mackinaw District 701 before retiring. She was an active member of the Deer Creek H.C.E., Deer Creek P.T.A., Deer Creek Woman's Club, Lifetime member of the Deer Creek American Legion Auxiliary, and the Tazewell County Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Washington where her funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Saturday, April 1, 2017 with Fr. Julius Turyatoranwa officiating. Visitation will be one hour before mass Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Deer Creek. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is in charge of arrangements.
