Obituary PEKINa"Gordon S. "Woody" Derais, 78, of Pekin died at 9:40 PM on Friday, September 19, 2008 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Born on March 25, 1930 in Colchester, IL to LeRoy and Dorothy Grace Nichols Derais, he married Barbara Jean Davis on October 24, 1954 in Peoria. She survives. Also surviving are 4 sons, Scott LeRoy (Emilyn) of Pekin, Brian David (Lynn) of Orlando, FL, Randall Thomas of West Palm Beach, FL, and Brett William (Kathy) of Metamora, IL; 4 grandchildren, Eric Derais of Grand Rapids, MI, Nicole Derais of Metamora, Rachel Derais and Jared Derais, both of Pekin. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Edward and an infant daughter, Kimberly Nannette. Woody was a US Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He worked at Nichols Auto Electric in Peoria, where he became the owner in 1981, and retired in 1997. A memorial service will be held at 7 PM on Friday, September 26 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 2104 S. 14th St. in Pekin. Bishop Leonard Peneda will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Cremation rites have been accorded. Deiters Funeral Home in East Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
