Obituary Golda E. Combs, of Peoria Heights, formerly of Ghent, NY, passed away at 7:13pm, Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Cornerstone Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Peoria Heights. She was born April 24, 1927 in Plainsfield, NY to John and Delia (Cleveland) Jordan. On August 10, 1945, she married Howard W. Combs in Warrensburg, NY; he preceded her in death in 1994. Surviving are 2 grandchildren, Tracy (Tom) Buzzell of Washington, IL and Dan (Joannie) Schneider of Belle Plaine, MN; 3 great-grandchildren, CJ & Logan Buzzell and Charlie Kern ; 3 step-grandchildren, Sidney(Nelson) Merritt, Kelly(Jim) Hatz, and Mike(Leana) Mabry and their families; son-in-law, Duane Mabry; and sister, Ruth (Richard) Leonard. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four siblings and her daughter, Dana Mabry. Golda worked as a bookkeeper for many years. She enjoyed an active retirement, teaching quilting as adult education classes and serving her community. She established and managed the Ghent Food Pantry to serve the town and surrounding areas. Golda also established the Ghent Medical Building in honor of her late husband, so the town could be served by physicians. Inurnment will be at Ghent Union Cemetery in Ghent, NY.
