Obituary WASHINGTON - Gloria Anne Carlock, 69, of #10 Elk Ct., Washington, IL died at 8:32 pm Monday, March 19, 2007 at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 28, 1937 in Peoria, IL to Glen Wood and Lillian Sauber McKinney, she married Ronald D. Carlock nearly fifty years ago on June 29, 1957 in Creve Coeur, IL. He survives. Also surviving are 1 daughter Alisa (Denny) Klein and 1 son Darren Carlock both of Washington, 1 sister, Barbara (Jim) Smiley of Arvada, CO 1 brother, Daniel (Georgia) McKinney of Deland, FL, 1 aunt, Ione Breedlove of Osteen, Fl; 5 grandchildren, Kyle, Kelsey, Emily, Cole, and Karly; and 3 nephews and 2 nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents. Gloria grew up in Washington and East Peoria, and was a 1955 graduate of East Peoria High School. She also graduated from Illinois State University in 1975 with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and certification in Special Education. After teaching for 17 years, she retired in 1993 from District #50 in Washington, where she taught Early Childhood Special Education, First Grade, and also Kindergarten. She previously had a private kindergarten at Sundoer School in Washington and had run a private Pre-School in her Washington home. She also had worked in the Advertising Department at Caterpillar Tractor Co. She was active in the Peoria Park District Ladies Line-Dancing Group at Lakeview for 12 years. For over 15 years, Gloria made numerous close friends through her Ladies Leisure Group. She was a member of Crossroad United Methodist Church in Washington, where she participated in the Social Concerns Group and volunteered at the summer Bible School program. Gloria was a devoted grandmother and cherished the time spent with her 5 grandchildren. Services will be at 11 am Friday, March 23, 2007 at Crossroads United Methodist Church in Washington. The Rev. Tom Goodell will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Thursday, March 22, 2007 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington, with additional visitation from 10-11 am Friday at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Service MAR 23. 11:00 AM Crossroads United Methodist Church 1420 N. Main Street Washington, IL, US
