WASHINGTONa"Glendean Reiner, 81, of Washington died at 5:35 PM on Sunday, May 6, 2007 at his residence.
Born on February 12, 1926 in Harrisburg, IL, to Alonzo and Charlotte Shoemaker Reiner, he married Wanda Butler on August 20, 1949 in Harrisburg. She survives.
Also surviving are 2 sons, Stephen Reiner of Washington and Ken Reiner of Los Angeles, CA; 3 grandchildren, Lori (John) Ham of Plainfield, IL, Lisa (David) Nuest of Metamora, IL, and Brian Reiner of Washington; and 2 great grandchildren, Julia Ham and Landon Nuest.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and 1 sister.
Glendean was a US Navy veteran serving as a radioman during World War II.
He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Evansville College. He worked with the railroad for 40 years, retiring as the District Freight Sales Manager for the Santa Fe Railroad. He also was a Blue Coat Escort at Proctor Hospital for 15 years.
Glendean was a devout member of the First Baptist Church in Washington for 35 years where he served as a trustee. He was also a member of Delta Nu Alpha Transportation Fraternity.
A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Washington. The Rev. James Wootton II will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington, with additional visitation from 9:30-10 AM on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Metamora.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Youth Center the R.O.C.K. or to Community Hospice.
