Obituary
Gertrude W. Jackson, 96, of Washington, passed away at 6:15am, Saturday, January 24, 2015 at her home.
Gertrude was born on March 10, 1918 in Beckemeyer, IL to the late Anthony A. and Mary Elizabeth Dearworth Koch. She married John L. Jackson on October 19, 1935 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on October 31, 1981.
Surviving are 6 children, Jackie J. Hines of Gold Canyon, AZ, Dr. L.L. (Annette) Jackson of Rockdale, TX, Mary Frazier of Portland, TN, Betty (Dan) Ekstrand of Peoria, Paul (Patty) Jackson, and Ben (Karen) Jackson, both of Washington; daughter in law, Mary Lou Jackson of Montgomery; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sister, Delores Munie of Highland, IL; and brother, Vince (Betty) Koch of Benson, AZ.
She was also preceded in death by her son, John Jackson; nephew, Ronald Meeker; 4 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Gertrude worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in East Peoria and was a member of UAW Local #974. She also participated in daily Masses on EWTN when she could not attend church. She was an election judge for many years and an avid Cardinals fan. She loved caring for children, and was a devoted mother and grandmother.
A memorial Mass for Gertrude will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, January 29, 2015 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington, where she was a member for 76 years. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass at the church. Inurnment will be at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery in Beckemeyer at a later date. Father Julius Turyatoranwa will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick School.
