Obituary Gerald "Jerry" Wagstaff, 78, of Washington, passed away at 3:10am, Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria. Jerry was born March 10, 1936 in Patoka to Chester and Ethel Sorrell Wagstaff. He first married Delores Bowe in 1957. He later married Billie Jacqueline Cantrell Curtright on April 8, 1978 in Pekin; she survives. Also surviving is a son, Keith (Lea) Wagstaff; step-son; Kenny Curtright; step-daughters, Jenetta (Richard) Haynes and Marion Moreland; eight grandchildren; thireteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; brother, David (Eva) Wagstaff; two nephews, and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, who raised him, Robert Jones; brother, Charles Wagstaff; son, Christopher Wagstaff; step-daughter, Billie Crigger; granddaughters, Ann Moffitt, Heather Hudson, and Amy Haynes; and grandson, Brent Tomlinson. After high school, Jerry served his country in the US Navy from 1954-1957. After the service, he attended barber college and went on to work at Bob's Barber Shop in Sunnyland for 30 years. In 1990, he retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. after 30 years of service. A funeral service for Jerry will be held at noon Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm, Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the funeral home, and a half hour prior to the service Thursday. Interment will be at Farmdale Cemetery in rural Washington, where military honors will be rendered. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, in memory of Ann Moffitt, Billie Crigger, Amy Haynes, and Brent Tomlinson, or the American Heart Association.
