Obituary EUREKAa"Geneva C. Broers, 83, of Eureka, formerly of Astoria and Havana, IL, died at 4:10 AM on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Maple Lawn Health Center in Eureka. Born on February 14, 1925 in Astoria, IL to Joseph and Bertha Wardell Davis, she married Otis Ray Lind in October 1947 in Astoria. He preceded her in death on February 25, 2005 in Rock Island, IL. Surviving are 4 children, Jeff Lind of Kansas, Ed (Diane) Lind of Clarksville, AR, Peg Lawson of Macomb, IL and Mary (Rev. Mark) Westman of Washington, IL; 1 sister, Margie Danner of Astoria; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 9 brothers and sisters. Geneva worked as a CNA for 10 years, and had previously worked as a supervisor for Servicemaster and the Cresent & Forge factory. Geneva was a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II, and always wanted to be an actress. She was a member of Highview Christian Church in Washington. She was a joyful person and was loved by all, but she especially loved the Lord and her family. A funeral service will be held at 6 PM on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. The Rev. Mark Westman will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services, from 5-6 PM at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded. Burial of cremated remains will be held in Astoria at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Highview Christian Church.
