Obituary East Peoria- Gene Miller, 91, of East Peoria, died Friday July 9, 2010 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. He was born October 20, 1918 in Heyworth, IL to Frank and Nell (Pierson) Miller. He married Dorothy Holderby September 12, 1943 in Lincoln, IL. She preceded him in death February 11, 2005 in East Peoria. Surviving are one daughter, Vickie (Ron) McDonald of East Peoria and one granddaughter, Ashley McDonald of St. Louis, MO. Also preceding him in death were one grandson, Robert J. Sills, three brothers and one sister. Gene worked as a Gauger Engineer on the Texaco Pipeline for over 35 years retiring as a supervisor in 1979. He enjoyed fishing and watching sports events on television and was most passionate about the Cubs. Gene's funeral service will be at 11:00 am Monday, July 12, 2010 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 10:00-11:00 am. Burial will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Memorials are requested to Shriners Hospital for Children-Chicago, where Gene spent a year as a young boy recovering from polio.
