Gene A. King, 83, of Washington, passed away at 11:07 pm Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
He was born October 2, 1937 in Caraway, AR to the late Johnnie P. and Verlia Mae Cox King. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Irene. He married Sharon R. Webb on May 5, 1963 in Washington. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, John (Suzie) King, Brian (Ginenne) King, Brett (Jodi Roach) King; seven grandchildren, Tania, Lisa, Glenn, Jessica, Autumn, Zoie, Sophie; six great-grandchildren, Ethan, Kiyana, Isaiah, Naomi, Victoria, Madison; one sister, Bettye Leonard; and two brothers, Donald (Becky) King, and Clifton (Wilma) King.
Gene was a United States Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked at Caterpillar Inc. retiring in 1992 after 31 years of service.
Gene enjoyed bowling and was a very talented handy man in every facet from building houses to the smallest projects. He will be dearly missed.
Cremation has been accorded. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Ark Humane Society in Lacon or American Heart Association.
