Obituary Gary L. White, 61, of Washington, died at 1:55 AM on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at his residence. He was born December 5, 1944 in Marion, Illinois to Walter L. and J. Aileen Gulley White. He married Linda L. Holmes on December 14, 1963 in Marion, IL. She survives. Also surviving are 3 sons, Bryan S. (Angella) White of Germantown Hills, IL, Sean K. (Michelle) White of Washington, IL, and Marc S. White of Champaign, IL; 1 sister, Carolyn (Charles) Hayes of Marion, IL; 1 brother-in-law, Jim (Lorraine) Boyd of Peoria, IL; his mother-in-law, Zella Holmes of Washington, IL; 2 grandchildren, Gary M. and Michaela L. White, both of Washington; 4 nieces, Christy and Courtney Hayes, Renee Gorham and Monique Decker, and 1 nephew, Keith Boyd. He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Bennie Holmes. He was a member of the Springfield Road Baptist Church in East Peoria, where he had been a trustee and Share Food Coordinator. He retired from Caterpillar after 37 years and was a member of the UAW Local 974. He also had been a member of the Washington City Council. His family was his greatest joy, especially his grandchildren. He liked to garden, do woodworking, watch the St. Louis Cardinals and in younger years played on baseball and men's softball leagues and was also in a bowling league. He was involved with carrying on the July 4th BBQ White Family Reunion that his grandfather started. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. The Revs. Duane Surels and Lelon Gatlin will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Friday, August 11, 2006 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington, IL.
