Obituary Gary L. Thompson Sr., 72, of Creve Coeur, passed away at 9:16 a.m. Sunday, May 24, 2015 at his home with his family by his side. He was born January 31, 1943 in Canton, IL to Roy and Josephine Krouch Thompson. He married Peggy Louise Collins on July 20, 1994 in Peoria Heights. She survives. Also surviving are 2 step-children, Emily Kelley of Creve Coeur, Johnny (April) Kelley of East Peoria; 2 children, Patsy Clark of Peoria, Gary L. Thompson Jr. of New Mexico; 1 brother, Larry (Donna) Thompson; and 4 grandchildren, Riley Kelley, Mason Clark, Selena and Matthew Hostetter. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandparents, John and Helen Krouch, who raised him, and Fred and Lori Thompson. Gary worked for SC2 in East Peoria for the last 8 years until an injury prevented him from working. He enjoyed fishing, working in the yard, cooking, and collecting eagles. Gary loved to tell jokes and never knew a stranger. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Gary's visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2015 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 30th at the funeral home.
