Obituary WASHINGTON- Gary W. McCoy, 61 of Washington passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 10:08A.M. at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Gary was born on February 20, 1954 in Peoria to John "Bud" and Marilyn Trimpe McCoy. He married Deborah M. Fultz on June 4, 1999 in Springfield. She survives. He was preceded in death by his father. Gary is survived by his mother, Marilyn of Washington; his wife, Deborah of Washington; stepson, Scott M. Mattingly of Taylorville; step-grandson, Devon Mattingly; siblings, Kathy (Terry) Carlson and Steve (Deb) McCoy, all of Washington; and nieces and nephews, Josh (Heather) Carlson, Brandon (Deidre) Carlson, Darin (Heidi) McCoy, Stephanie McCoy, and Sarah (Alex) Wilson; and great nephew, Ary. He was a 1972 graduate of Washington Community High School. For 33 years, he worked as a welder for Caterpillar in East Peoria, retiring in 2006. His most recent job was with the Washington Park District as a blue bus driver, where he thoroughly enjoyed the children and driving them to their various activities. In his spare time, he enjoyed skeet and trap shooting, bowling, and collecting watches. Gary was a devoted uncle and could often be found at his nieces and nephews ballgames throughout the years. Memorial contribution may be made to the Washington Park District or St. Mark's Lutheran Church, where Gary was a member. A funeral service for Gary will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 10:00A.M. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington. Reverend Richard J. Hanson and Youngshim E. Pitcher will officiate. There will be a visitation on Friday, January 22, 2016 from 5:00-7:00P.M. at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. There will be an additional visitation a half hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church, from 9:30A.M.-10:00A.M. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton.
