Obituary Gary W. Masters, 65, of Washington, passed away at 8:35am, Wednesday December 23, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Gary was born January 18, 1950 in Peoria to Jess C. and Virginia McCormick Masters. He married Shirley Gish on July 22, 1972. They divorced and later remarried July 22, 2015 in Galena; she survives. Also surviving are his siblings, Barb (Randy) Johnson of Marquette Heights, Deb Barrar of Anna, Peggy (Wally) Smith of Peoria, and Mike (Angie) Masters of Ozark; his very special step-daughter, whom he helped raise, Sara (Scott) Grinslade; step-grandchildren, Herschel Grinslade, Phillip Grinslade and Bree (Clay) Burley; and step-great-grandchildren, Ross and Leilah; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Leroy. Gary retired from Caterpillar, Inc. in 2006. He attended Rock Church in East Peoria, and was a member of Freedom Valley ABATE. He enjoyed gardening and riding his Harley. Gary will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
