Obituary EAST PEORIAa"Gary W. Maroney, 61, of East Peoria died at 6:00 PM on Monday, March 7, 2011 at his residence. He was born on May 10, 1949 in Peoria, IL to Allan and Elizabeth Olin Maroney. He married Karen Burdsall in August 1981 in East Peoria. Surviving are his son, Josh (Mary) Maroney of Peoria; brother Jack (Carol) Maroney of East Peoria; and his grandchildren, Payton E. and Breyon M. Maroney. He was preceded in death by his parents. Gary retired as a Lieutenant with the City of East Peoria Fire Department, where he served from August 15, 1974 to April 19, 1995. He was a member of the East Peoria Firefighters Local #1498. Gary was an avid fisherman and spent many summers on his family's property in Hayward, Wisconsin doing what he enjoyed mosta"fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria. Both family and friends are invited to celebrate Gary's life at 6 PM, where services will be lead by Rev. Brian Sanders. Cremation rites will be accorded following services.
