Obituary Creve Coeur - Gary Lee Eckart, 57, of Creve Coeur, died at 5:50 PM on Friday June 14, 2013 at his residence. He was born on April 1, 1956 in Peoria to Gary Neil and Donna Rae Jones Eckart. They preceded him in death. He married Pam Hamann on March 19, 2011 in Groveland. She survives. Also surviving are three step-sons; Robert and Travis Stoeffler of Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin, and Andrew Stoeffler of Marquette, Iowa, one step-granddaughter Abby Stoeffler, one sister, Terri (Shawn Wind) Ewers of Chillicothe, one niece Lynn Isbell, one nephew Joe Ewers, two great-nieces and two great-nephews. Gary worked all his life in the family dry cleaning business, Sun Cleaners located in Pekin, Morton and Bartonville, which he currently owned and operated and worked until the end of May this year. Gary was an avid golfer, loved watching NASCAR, cheered for the St. Louis Cardinals and loved to boat on the Illinois River with his father. He especially loved his dog Buster who was his co-pilot when he was out on deliveries. There will be a funeral service for Gary at 10 AM on Tuesday June 18, 2013 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in East Peoria. Pastor Kurt Mews will officiate. There will be a visitation on Monday from 5-7 PM at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria and one half hour prior to the service at church. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice Compassus in Peoria.
