Obituary
EAST PEORIA-Gary L. Crippen, 70, of East Peoria, IL, passed away at 8:27 am Monday, December 3, 2012 at Illinois Cancer Care in Peoria, after a courageous 4 year battle with lung cancer.
Born on September 4, 1942 in Centralia, IL to Elston and Mary Brock Crippen, he married Marcia Crossman on December 23, 1961 in Benton, IL.
Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Marcia; 4 children, Cathy (Tony) Delinski of Peoria, Carri Miller (Dan Kober) of Pekin, Curt (Barb) Crippen of East Peoria, and Craig (Lindsey) Crippen of Washington; 11 grandchildren, Jamie (Taylor)Krick, Brian (Cheryl) Miller, Alex Delinski, Courtney Miller, Morgan Miller, Colin Crippen, Paige Crippen, Carly Miller, Brock Crippen, Faith Crippen and Garrett Crippen; 4 great-grandchildren, Aiden, Carter, Owen and Avery (due to arrive anytime); 1 brother, Regie (Dee) Crippen of Okala, FL; 1 sister, Kayla (Vern) Jourdan of Marion, IL; 2 nephews and 3 nieces; brother-in-law, Doug (Laurie) Crossman of Bloomington; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Williams of East Peoria.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and 2 infant brothers.
He served in the Marine Corp. from 1960-1963. Gary was very proud to be a Marine and was a great supporter of the Disabled American Veterans.
Gary retired from Caterpillar in 1994 after 31 years of employment at the Mossville plant as an inspector. He then worked at G & D Integrated from 1996-2009. Gary loved spending time with his family and nothing made him prouder than the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren and watching his grandchildren participate in sports, dancing, and acrobats. He was a diehard Cardinal fan and enjoyed watching the Bears and Illini Basketball.
Funeral services will be 10 am Friday December 7, 2012 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria. Pastor John Hauck will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the funeral home in East Peoria. Burial will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria where military rites will be performed by the Marines and the Tazewell Military Rites Team.
