Obituary PEORIA - Gary L. Boyer, 70, of Peoria, IL, passed away at 4:15 pm Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at his home. Born on November 25, 1942 in Peoria, IL to Riley I. and Margaret Marshall Boyer, he married Joyce Booth on December 18, 2001 in Peoria, IL. She survives. Also surviving are his son, Dennis (Joetta) Boyer of Dunlap, IL, step-daughter, Theresa Anderson of East Peoria, IL, 2 grandchildren, Sydney Boyer and Collin Boyer, both of Dunlap, IL, one brother, Richard (Carol) Boyer of Dunlap, IL and one nephew and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents. Gary was a truck driver and drove for C.A. Walker, Tobler Transfer, Bosch Trucking, and Linz Oil. He retired in December of 2005. He was a member of Teamster's Local 627, Eagles #265 in Peoria, IL, American Legion Post #979 in Bartonville, IL, Teamster's Retirees Club, and a lifetime member of the Hanna City Sportsman's Club. Gary's hobbies included working on cars, snowmobiling, playing cards, watching NASCAR races, playing bingo, and traveling to different casinos. He also enjoyed driving cars for various car dealerships in the Peoria area. A celebration of Gary's life will be held from 2-4 pm on Monday, March 11, 2013 at the American Legion Post #979 in Bartonville, IL. Cremation rites have been accorded and private inurnment will be at a later date. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria is assisting the family with the arrangements.
