Obituary WASHINGTON - Frederick James Foster, 69, of Washington, IL died at 12 noon on Monday, December 27, 2010 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. Born on October 31, 1941 in Peoria, IL, to Harold and Ann Boice Foster, he married the love of his life, Dorothy E. Essig on October 7, 1962 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington, IL. She preceded him in death on February 10, 1988. Surviving are 3 children, Becky (Doug) Lee of Las Vegas, NV, Scott (Mary) Foster of Washington, IL, and Todd (Jessica) Foster of West LaFayette, IN, 1 brother, John (Sharon) Foster of Washington, IL, 2 sisters, Mary Eakle and Helen (Russ) Becker both of Washington, IL, and 9 grandchildren, Ocean and Malia Lee, Dyllan, Reid, Case, and Cannon Foster, and Sienna, Calista, and Wyatt Foster. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Wilmer "Bill" Foster. A graduate from Washington Community High School in 1959, Fred was co-captain of the football team and recipient of the prestigious Bob Newman "Sportsmanship" award. He worked for CILCO for 36 years, retiring in January 2001. Fred was a member of Northwoods Community Church in Peoria and Kennel Lake Sportsman Club in Morton. He enjoyed golf with his friends as well as hunting and fishing. He was active in the community over the years, coaching flag football and bitty basketball. His love for sports continued while watching family members play throughout the years in high school and college. Fred was a very humble man who loved his family and enjoyed his occasional babysitting duties which usually included playing cards with his grandchildren. His perfect night out was taking the Kids for cheeseburgers and milkshakes. Services for Fred will be at 11 am Friday, December 31, 2010 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Pastor Kirk Moser will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
