Obituary
PEORIA--Franklin D. Guthrie, 90, of Peoria, died at 10:20 PM, on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria, IL. He was born on April 4, 1918 in Assiut, Egypt, to Cuthbert and Anna Barackman Guthrie. He married Irene Wright on June 29, 1946 in Yeadon, Pennsylvania; she survives. Also surviving is 1 daughter, Kim (Ricardo) Delatorre of East Peoria, IL; 2 grandsons, Courtland (Sara) Brower of East Peoria, IL, and Aaron Delatorre of East Peoria, IL; 1 great granddaughter, Faith Ann Brower; 2 brothers, Dave (Betty) Guthrie of Barrington, IL, and Dixon (Hilda) Guthrie of Los Alamitos, CA; sister, Catherine (John) Lindauer of Denver, CO; 2 nieces Pat (Clair) Ford of Vancouver, WA and Marilyn (Hunt) Norris of Portland, OR. He was preceded in death by his missionary parents in 1925 in Doleib Hill, Sudan. Franklin was a US Army veteran, serving during World War II in the 144th Field Artillery Division. He received a BA from Stanford University in 1950, where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Franklin was a Financial Consultant in Philadelphia, PA. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Peoria, and had been a member of the First Presbyterian Churches in Ocean City, NJ and Springfield, PA. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Monday, April 14, 2008 at the Waters of Life Chapel at Lutheran Hillside Village. Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM, one hour prior to services on Monday at the chapel. Cremation rites will be accorded following services.
