Obituary WASHINGTON - Frank L. Clary, 83, of Washington, IL died at 6:38 pm Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria. Born on April 4, 1927 in Canton, IL to Daniel F. and Zuola Harless Clary, he married Jacquelyn "Jackie" Campbell on August 3, 1951 in Corinth, MS. She survives. Also surviving are 3 children, Marcia (John) Miller of Good Hope, IL, Dawn (Gordy) Anderson of Charlotte, NC, Max (Angie) Clary of Brownsburg, IN; 8 grandchildren, Erin (Nathan) Friedly of Cincinnati, OH, Michael Miller of Good Hope, IL, Billie, Tracy, and Jackie Anderson all of Charlotte, NC, Zachary, Taylor, and Ella Clary all of Brownsburg, IN. He was preceded in death by 1 half-sister, Lola Smith. Frank was a U.S. Army veteran. He was born and raised in Canton, IL graduating from Canton High School in 1944. Frank played the drums with the Billy Hill Band in downtown Peoria for many years. He had a particular love for big-band jazz music. He enjoyed trading and collecting commemorative Pepsi cans and had a collection of over 3,000 cans! Frank served on the school board at Washington Community High School for 14 years, including serving as president. He also volunteered his time to WHIP Food Pantry for over 20 years. Frank worked for Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 40 years starting out as a stock chaser and retiring from the data processing department in 1984. He perfected the science of vacation planning, allowing his family to visit everywhere of any importance to them. He planned every detail from the lunch stops down to the last overnight stay! A memorial service will be at 6 pm Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Rev. John Miller will officiate. A memorial visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded.
