Obituary WASHINGTONa"Floyd O. Reed, 70, of 306 Wilshire Drive, Washington, passed away at 12:02 AM, Thursday, December 28, 2006 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Floyd was born on October 26, 1936 in St. Peter, IL to William and Martha Grandt Reed. He married Elizabeth J. deWerff in Farina, IL on May 19, 1957. She survives. Also surviving is a son, John L. (Wynette) of Greeley, CO; two daughters, Theresa (George) Armstrong and Amy Reed, both of Washington, IL; five grandchildren, Emily, Spencer, and Sydney Reed of Greeley, CO, and Benjamin and Sam Armstrong of Washington, IL; one brother, Raymond (Ruth) and one sister, Dorothy (Robert) Harpster, both of St. Peter, IL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Louis and Howard and one sister, Ruth. Floyd was an IT Analyst for Caterpillar, Inc. for 21 years, retiring in 1987. He then worked at Pekin Insurance as an IT Analyst for 19 years, retiring in February of 2006. Floyd attended Eastern Illinois University before enlisting in the US Army, where he served for 5 years. Active in the community, Floyd served on the Northern Tazewell Recreation Association Board for many years, and was on the Washington Community High School Board for 22 years, where he served on the Illinois Association of School Boards. Floyd was a member of Ducks Unlimited, the Bunco Group since 1985 and also was an avid Washington Panther Fan. A member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, he had served as a past elder and president of the board. He was also a member of the choir. He was proud of his children and grandchildren, enjoying each moment he spent with them. Visitation will be Friday, December 29, 2006, from 5-8 PM at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at 11 AM at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Washington with visitation one hour prior to services. Pastor Arthur Schudde will officiate. Cremation will be accorded and burial will be at a later date at Farina Cemetery in Farina, IL.
