Obituary DUNLAP-Floyd W. Ewer, 87, of Dunlap, IL, formerly of Orange County, CA, died at 5:06 AM Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Sunset Rehabilitation & Health Care in Canton, IL. Born on February 16, 1925 in Mankato, KS to Edgar W. and Gladys Dart Ewer, he married Betty J. Griffin on December 1, 1946 in Las Vegas, NV. She preceded him in death on October 5, 1993 in Orange County, CA. Surviving are 1 son, Darryl (Kimberly) Ewer of Dunlap; 2 sisters, Verna (Ray) Krahn of Oceanside, CA and Iva Dick of Los Angeles, CA; and 1 granddaughter, Kendall of Dunlap. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Gary Charles Ewer in 2001 and 3 sisters, Norma McMullen, Maxine Reif, and Wanda Louise Ewer. Floyd was a US Army veteran serving in the South Pacific during World War ll, where he earned the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, and World War ll Victory Medal. He was a mechanic for 45 years last working for Joe McPherson Ford in Tustin, CA, retiring in 1995. Floyd will be greatly missed by his dog, Amber, who he enjoyed taking on walks. He was a member of Lutheran Church of the Cross in Aliso Viejo, CA. Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be at a later date in California with inurnment at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA. Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria, IL is assisting the family with arrangements.
