Obituary Eureka - Everett C. Moss, 87 of Eureka, formerly of East Peoria, died at 12:04 PM Thursday, February 23, 2012, at Eureka Hospital. He was born on January 14, 1925, in Pocahontas, IL, to Clifton and Ruth McIntyre Moss. He married Valeria J. Smith on September 6, 1944, in Greenville, IL. She survives. Also surviving are two sons; Robert (Alice) Moss of East Peoria and Larry (Lou) Moss of Milton, Florida; one daughter, Lynette (Tim) Mannos of Washington; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Martin Sutherland and Matthew Mannos; and one infant brother, Robert. Everett served in the United States Navy during World War II as a gunner's mate on transport ships in the Atlantic and the Pacific. After his time in the military he worked as a sign painter at Smith Sign Company in Peoria. He eventually purchased the business and operated it until his retirement in 1982. He resided in Creve Coeur and East Peoria for many years. He retired to Sullivan, IL, before returning to Eureka to be near his family. There will be a memorial visitation at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington from 10 AM to 12 PM on Saturday, February 25, 2012. Cremation will be accorded.
