Obituary
Etta Mae Brooks, 88, of Washington, passed away at
10:20 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2015 at Washington Christian Village.
She was born July 3, 1927 in Rock Falls, IL to Harry and Florence
DeMey Staples. She married James F. Brooks on September 9, 1945 in
New Lenox, IL. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2009. She was
also preceded in death by her parentsI two brothers, Richard and GlenI
and two sisters, Fern and Ada.
Surviving are two sons, James "Ric" (Charlene) Brooks of Pensacola,
FL, Brian (Sue) Brooks of ChillicotheI six grandchildren, Rebecca
Fabish of Washington, Brian (Tara) Brooks II of Bethalto, J.R. (Heather)
Brooks of Cottage Grove, MN, Daniel (Joni) Brooks of Chillicothe,
Michael (Vicky) Brooks of Peoria, Bryan (April) Thomas of Knoxville,
TNI ten greatgrandchildren,
Tyler, Quinn,Trey and Braxton FabishI
Lexi and Camilla BrooksI Taylor Mae and Alia Brooks, Brayden and
Jordyn BrooksI and two brothers, Ralph (Ardis) Staples and Chuck
Staples.
She worked at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria before
retiring in 1984.
Etta Mae was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in
Washington and the Citizens Police Academy in Washington.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic
Church.
A funeral service for Etta Mae will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 9,
2015 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington with Fr.
Steve Willard officiating. Visitation will be from 12 Noon until service
time at 1:30p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at
Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
