Obituary Erla M. Rhodes, 85, of Washington passed away at 12:15am on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Washington Christian Village. Erla was born September 27, 1931 in Lomax, IL to the late Henry "Pat" and Elsie Stone Jones. She married Dale Edward Rhodes on December 3, 1950 in Dallas City, IL. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2015. Surviving are her children, Timothy (Regina) Rhodes of Bourbonnais and Julie (Mike) Robertson of Washington; grandchildren, Joshua (Amy) Rhodes, Andrew (Eileen) Rhodes, Keith (Corrie) Robertson, and Brandon (Kelly) Robertson; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Jones of Moline; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, William and Alfred Jones. Erla began working at Washington Community High School in 1971 in the cafeteria. She had over 25 years of dedicated service there and loved feeding and getting to know the students. She enjoyed sports of all kinds, but especially enjoyed following the Chicago Bulls and the Washington Panthers. Erla was a longtime, active member of Crossroad United Methodist Church. She served many meals there and volunteered whenever she could. In recent years, her porch was her world. She could often be found sitting there watching the happenings in her neighborhood. A funeral service for Erla will be held at noon Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Erla's husband, Dale, will also be inurned at that time . Pastor Sarah Wanck will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads United Methodist Church.
