Erin Elizabeth Fleming, 53, of Washington, formerly of Charleston, passed away from complications of cancer at 8:47pm Saturday, May 11, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She is survived by her husband, Mel Fleming, whom she married on June 6, 1998 in Oswego; their children Taylor Fleming and Michael Fleming, both of Washington; her mother and stepfather, Nancee

and Steve Margison; her brother and sister-in-law, Eric and Louise Brock; her two cats, Luna and Vito; and her extended family of cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Brock and beloved cats Bella, Mason, and Aslan.

Erin was born November 21, 1970 in Aurora. She earned her bachelor's degree in speech language pathology from Illinois State University and later her master's degree from Western Illinois University.

Over the years, she worked in nursing homes, group homes, and schools until she began working in her home to care for her family.

Erin's faith was important to her. She was a lifelong United Methodist. Wherever she attended church, she sang in choir and served on committees. Erin liked volunteering in schools, and did so as long as she

was able. She enjoyed a good story, whether a movie or book. Her favorites included the movie "While You Were Sleeping" and the Twilight book series.

Never to be mistaken for an introvert, Erin loved making new friends, and any excuse to plan events. She was the best listener, the person you texted for advice, had the best stories, and could make a spread

like no other. She truly cared about everyone around her and treated them like family. She leaves a legacy of love, care, and grace.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on June 8, 2024 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Charleston. A lunch reception will follow. Cremation rites have been accorded.
