Obituary
Washington-Emma Marie "Re" Brashers, 73, of Washington, IL passed away at 1:50 AM on Friday, November 21, 2008 at her residence. She was born in East Peoria, IL to Steve and Ethel (Bennett) Tott on March 1, 1935. She married John L. Brashers on June 30, 1952 in Harrison, AR. He survives. Other survivors are her mother, Ethel Sheckler of Peoria; two sons Philip Brashers of Treasure Island, FL and Barry Brashers of Yates City, IL; two daughters Brenda (Doug) Hunter of Metamora and Teresa Brashers of Bradford, IL; three sisters Caroline Turnbow of East Peoria, Viola (Carl) Fultz of Graham, WA, and Charlotte (Jim) Wolland of Spannaway, WA; two brothers Butch Duffy of Peoria, and Joe (Kathy) Duffy of Round Lake, IL; nine grandchildren Chandra (Eddy) Doyle, Sara, Brittney and John Brashers, Krista and Ashley Hunter, Kyle and Cody Brashers, and Chase Robinson; and two great-grandchildren Connor and Sophia Doyle. She was preceded in death by her father, son Gary Leo Brashers, and sister Mary June Staples. Emma was a very loving and caring mother. She is known for constantly keeping a clean house and baking. She also enjoyed seeing her grandchildren, cake decorating, crocheting, quilting, doing ceramics and other crafts, watching videos, and word searches. She enjoyed working at Duffy's eatery and was a member of Roland Manor Baptist Church in Washington. A service to celebrate Emma's life will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington, IL. Pastor Steve Hardin will officiate. Burial will be at Fondulac Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Monday, November 24, 2008 also at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation or the Northern Tazewell Fire Department.
