Obituary
Washburn - Elwood G. "Bud" Laible, 81 of Washburn died at 8:07 AM Monday July 18, 2011 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born February 24, 1930 in Washburn to Samuel and Rosalee Crank Laible. Bud is survived by his wife Virginia Tiezzi whom he married on October 8, 1956 in Peoria.
Also surviving are two sons, Father Jeffrey Laible of Lincoln, IL and Terry Laible of Washburn and one daughter Sherry (Michael) Laible-White of Pekin, IL . One grandson Matthew and two great grandchildren Mariah and Matthew Jr. also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and 3 sisters. Bud was proud to have served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He later attended Bradley University and the University of Illinois. He retired after 20 years of service as a tool grinder from Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Mossville, IL. He enjoyed collecting knives and traveled the state of Illinois displaying and selling them at knife shows. He loved animals, especially the family dogs.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday July 21st at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church in Peoria Heights. Father Jeffrey Laible will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Wednesday July 20th at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. There will be a prayer service at 6:45 PM. Additional visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:00 at the church on Thursday. Entombment will take place at Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria.
