Obituary
"Lee" Elmer Manning, 88, of Washington, died at 5:10 PM on Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at his residence.
Born on May 3, 1918 in Whiteside County, IL to Clarence and Ruby Cobb Manning, he married Roberta "Betty" Calvert on September 15, 1985 in East Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving is one son, Michael (Brenda) Calvert of Lake Camelot, IL; 3 daughters, Karen (Joseph) Reichgott of North Miami Beach, FL, Anita Booth of East Peoria, IL, and Cheryl (Dennis) Woods of Lake Camelot, IL; 1 sister, Betty Schrapf of Keokuk, IA; 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Charles Manning and 2 sisters, Vione Groves and Laura Wyclif.
He was a US Navy Veteran, serving during World War II from 1940-1946.
He worked as an electrician for Caterpillar, Inc, and most recently for Pabst Brewing Company in Peoria. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 55 years.
He was a member of the VFW Post #2078 in East Peoria as well as the American Legion Post #318 in Morton.
He was also a member of the East Peoria Mennonite Church where a funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, August 25, 2006. The Rev. John Gray will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Thursday, August 24, 2006 at Deiters Funeral Home in East Peoria. Burial will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
