Ellie Louise Byrd, 90, of Washington, passed away at 6:52 am Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Reflections Memory Care in Washington. She was born February 23, 1931 in Russellville, AL to John and Nita Laster Mayfield. She married Orbie A. Byrd in Tupelo, MS on March 17, 1951. He preceded her in death on June 25, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, and two brothers. Surviving are three children, Michael (Cindy) Byrd of Washington, Beckie (Jeff) Gibson of Louisville, KY, Kevin (Julie) Byrd of Washington; six grandchildren, Angela (Cory) Uftring, Cory (Roxy) Byrd, Wesley (Tonya) Gibson, Dustin (Jennifer) Gibson, Brooke Gibson, Samuel Byrd; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Annette (Silas) Oliver, Betty Green; and three brothers, Jack Mayfield, Jerry Mayfield and John (Melissa) Mayfield Jr. Ellie was a homemaker, previously working at Town and Country Dress Shop on the square in Washington and Glamour Aisle in Peoria Heights. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs. Private services will be held at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.
