Ella "Leona" Stiltz, 92, of Washington, passed away at 1:31pm on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton with loving family by her side.
She was born on March 26, 1932 in Pleasant Plains, IL to John E. and Anna L. (Austin) Humphress. She married Bud Stiltz in Pleasant Plains on July 23, 1950.
Leona is survived by two daughters, Deborah McMahon of Altus, OK, and Diane Bannan of Groveland; one sister, Elaine (Jack) Rye of Wood River; three grandchildren, Christopher McMahon, Timothy Perantoni, and Ashley Bannan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Stiltz; daughter, Donna Chambers; sisters, Marie Schnapp, Ruby Ziegler, Frances Wanless, Deloris Ilsley, Shirley Bloodworth; brother, John Humphress.
Leona loved being a homemaker and taking care of her husband and children. In her earlier years she enjoyed being in bowling leagues and ceramic painting clubs.
She was a member of the Washington Christian Church. She and her husband were devoted to helping at their church over the years. She was involved in Prime Timers, Women's Auxiliary, and cooking at various events at the church. She and her husband volunteered with meals on wheels through Maple Lawn Homes in Eureka. After her husband retired, they were escorts for Peoria Charter Coach for a couple of years.
Leona was a woman of great faith; always willing to help whenever or wherever it was needed. She had a tremendous love for children.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff and ministry at the Apostolic Christian Restmor Home in Morton for the loving care provided to Leona and her family. Through sharing and receiving love at Restmor, she always had a beautiful smile on her face.
There will be a private graveside service at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton. Pastor Jeremiah Psinas will officiate. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Apostolic Christian Restmor at 1500 Parkside in Morton, IL 61550, or Marine Toys for Tots Foundation at 18251 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, VA 22171.
